Camp Firefly 2023
June 11-17
YMCA Camp Whittle in Fawnskin, CA

Camp Counselor and Volunteer Applications are past due.

If you are still interested in helping with camp please reach out to the Volunteer Manager!

Camp Firefly is one of the most popular and effective ways in which children with cancer and their siblings, ages 7 to 17, have the opportunity to experience summer fun.

Our camp volunteer program attracts a diverse group of individuals ranging in age and background.  We are looking for high-energy, creative volunteers, desiring to make a difference in the life of a child. We seek volunteers who are leaders, prepared to work hard, care for others, be responsible, build relationships with campers and other staff members, and have the best week of their lives!

Volunteer Requirements

  • The majority of volunteers are required to commit to an entire week of camp!
  • Volunteers MUST be 20 years of age before they arrive at camp.
  • Background check required for all volunteers.

Camp Volunteer Positions

Counselors: Assigned to a cabin with 2-3 co-counselors, you’ll work with the same cabin of campers all week long, occasionally doing broader activities with the village (the entire age group).

Activities Specialists: Each day is packed full of activities! We need Activities Specialists to create fun and unique activities and run them at camp for our special campers! If you are interested in becoming an Activities Specialist, please email the Volunteer Manager!

Support staff: If you are unable to commit the entire week, we have support positions available in tasks such as preparing supplies, set up and tear down, and more. Email the Volunteer Manager if you are interested in becoming support staff.

Bus Chaperones: Volunteers will chaperone kiddos on the bus from Las Vegas to California and ride back to Vegas with the bus on the 11th. On the return trip (17th), they will be picked up by the bus and be driven to California to chaperone kiddos on the way back home to Las Vegas.
