Meet our Young Adult Advisory Council!

Candlelighters’ Young Adult Advisory Council (CYAAC) is a passionate community of young adult survivors, siblings, and bereaved siblings who have been impacted by childhood cancer. CYAAC exists to ensure that young voices are heard and valued by creating space for connection, shared experiences, and meaningful input. Members offer insight into the unique challenges of navigating diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and loss as adolescents and young adults, helping shape programs and support that truly reflect what matters most during and beyond a pediatric cancer journey.

Through leadership, collaboration, and advocacy, CYAAC works to improve the care, resources, and experiences available to young people affected by childhood cancer. Council members brainstorm and develop innovative programs and events, provide feedback on existing services, and serve as ambassadors within their peer communities. Participation in CYAAC offers opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, networking, and lasting friendships, all while making a real and lasting impact on the future of support for adolescents and young adults within the Candlelighters community.
